Evans Optometric Consultancy is a Limited Company providing specialist consultancy and expert witness work in the field of optometry. The directors have over 70 years of experience in the field of optometry, vision science, contact lenses, electrophysiology, psychophysics, and orthoptics. The EOC team have provided expert opinion in over 90 clinico-legal cases, including the first case of alleged manslaughter involving an optometrist. The team have authored several influential reports, including contributing to GOC reports and expert advice on training videos. EOC have provided consultancy services to several leading multinational companies, in sectors including ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

Privacy statement

We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and take matters of personal privacy very seriously. In our work as a consultancy/expert witness company, we store and process personal data (e.g., name, date of birth, contact details). The clinical data we store is contained on secure PCs. 

We keep personal data concerning expert witness cases until we are advised by the instructing solicitors that the case is closed and the data can be destroyed, or for 10 years, whichever comes sooner.

If a third party contacts us asking for information about you we will not provide this unless you have specifically requested in writing for us to do so. The company believes in the importance of research and education. We sometimes allow researchers or educators to access anonymous data for purposes of research or education. We stress that no data is taken from the business for these purposes unless it has been fully anonymised. We take care to follow the advice of the Information Commissioner’s Office on data anonymisation and to avoid providing any information that could allow re-identification. This involves removing or masking personal details (name, address, telephone number, email addresses). Such anonymised data will not be made publicly available but will only be provided to specific individuals for the uses detailed above. If you would like to opt out of this use of anonymised data please write or email the CEO, who is the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
